- Adoption is not new to the African-American community. As a people, we have historically taken care of our own. The NC Association of Friends of Black Children developed based on this conviction. From its eighteenth year history of proving that Black families do adopt evolved Another Choice, the state's first African-American adoption agency focusing on recruiting adoptive homes for African-American and other special needs children.

Comment from Teresa Fields: Good afternoon, I am TCM care manager for client. The client is a 16-year-old, (male at birth) identifies as female and preferred name Keisah. She and her mother presented to Daymark Recovery Services on 10-10-2023 referred by Central Carolina Hospital. Client was hospitalized after an altercation with her brother where she tried to set her brother on fire. Client attends Lee County High School and is in the 10th grade. Client was retained in the 3rd and 9th grade. Client has lived with her mother and brother who is 26 years old, since December 2022. Prior to this she lived with her father for 5 years where she reportedly experiences abuse and neglect. Client reports history of trauma, psychosis, alcohol and cannabis use. Client has a history of noncompliance with medication. Diagnosis's Schizophrenia Disorder, PTSD and Intellectual developmental Disorder. Medications Client is prescribed Trazadone, Vraylar and Escitalopram, however, when she was hospitalized, she was taken off those medications and prescribed Seroquel Client has a PSY/Eval scheduled for 10-17-2023 with Daymark.
